Children grow and develop at different speeds, but parents know their children best. Changes in behaviour, communication, learning or social interaction should not always be dismissed as “just a phase.”
Parents should seek professional advice if a child consistently struggles to communicate, does not respond to their name, avoids eye contact, has difficulty interacting with other children, shows repetitive behaviours or has unusual sensitivity to sounds, touch, food or changes in routine.
Some children may also lose skills they had previously developed. Any loss of speech, social or other developmental skills deserves prompt medical attention.
Autism is a developmental condition, and there is no single sign that confirms it. Early identification and appropriate support can help children develop communication, learning and social skills.
Similarly, persistent sadness, anxiety, aggression, withdrawal, major changes in sleep or eating, difficulty concentrating or loss of interest in usual activities may indicate that a child’s mental health needs attention.
Parents should avoid comparisons with other children or self-diagnosis through the internet.
At Sevayan Hospital, we encourage parents to trust their concerns and seek professional developmental guidance early.
Every child develops differently. If something concerns you, don’t wait—early assessment can make a meaningful difference.
