Patient Preparation Notes

Digital X-Ray

1. No special preparation is usually required.
2. Depending on the area being imaged, you may need to remove jewelry or clothing containing metal.

MRI Scan

1. Inform your healthcare provider if you have any metal implants, as they may interfere with the MRI.
2. Depending on the area being imaged, fasting may be required.
3. Remove any metal objects, such as jewellery, before the scan.

Ultrasound

1. Preparation may vary depending on the area being examined.
2. For abdominal ultrasound, fasting for 8 to 12 hours may be required.
3. For pelvic ultrasound, you may be asked to drink water before the test and have a full bladder.

Biopsy

1. Follow any specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider regarding fasting or medication intake.
2. Depending on the type of biopsy, you may need to stop taking certain medications before the procedure.

CT Scan

1. Depending on the area being scanned, fasting may be required.
2. Inform your healthcare provider if you have any allergies, especially to contrast dye.
3. Remove any metal objects, such as jewellery, before the scan.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

No specific preparation is usually required.

Electroencephalogram (EEG)

1. Depending on the type of EEG, you may be asked to avoid caffeine or certain medications before the test.
2. It's important to get a good night's sleep before the test to ensure accurate results.
3. Wash your hair the night before or the morning of the test, but avoid using any hair products like gels or sprays.

Mammography

Avoid using deodorants, lotions, powders, or perfumes on the day of the exam, as they can interfere with the imaging.

2D Echo

1. No specific preparation is usually required.
2. Wear comfortable clothing and avoid wearing jewellery around the chest area.

Spirometry

1. Avoid smoking for at least one hour before the test.
2. Follow any specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider regarding medication use before the test.

Endoscopy

Follow the specific preparation instructions provided by your healthcare provider, which may include fasting for a certain period before the procedure.

TMT

1. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes for the test.
2. Avoid eating or drinking anything except water for 2 to 3 hours before the test.

Holter

1. No specific preparation is usually required.
2. Keep a diary of your activities and symptoms during the monitoring period, if instructed by your healthcare provider.
3. Follow any instructions provided by your healthcare provider regarding showering or bathing during the monitoring period.
